Final Meals

October 29th, 2007

Someone asked some famous chefs what their final meal would be. It’s supposed to be a book but Time did some excerpts.

Got a path!

October 24th, 2007

I got back to my cleaning this week.  Last night I crawled up to the attic and started pulling out bags of clothes that I was supposed to have gotten rid of a long time ago.  I made a path so that I can get all the way back to the back of the attic where there was a ton of empty space.  It was dark as crap back there though so I couldn’t see much but I’m planning on heading to Lowes tomorrow and getting some kind of lighting contraption.  If I could get things spread out a bit I could sort through it a bit easier.  I also found out that the place I took the clothes will accept kitchen goods as well.  That should make it easier to get rid of some of this stuff.  Most of the stuff that’s not kitchenware or clothes is just trash.

Family Visit

October 24th, 2007

Got a visit in with my family last week. It was kind of tough traveling there and back but it was a good time. I got to see a lot of family that I hadn’t seen in years, got some lovely food and some more lovely food. I taught my nephew how to play chess, got to see my newest nephew and just some general visiting. It was a good time.

Missed a day

October 18th, 2007

I missed my first day of clutter clearing yesterday.  We’ve headed south to Durant to visit family so I didn’t get any chance to clear out junk.  I kind of missed not getting to do it but I enjoyed seeing my folks and I got to meet my newest nephew for the first time.  He’s  a cutie.  So I broke my streak but it was definitely for a good cause.

Raves for Dreamhost

October 5th, 2007

Ok, this new hosting service is quite good. For years I’ve wondered how home users were going to share all their goodies with people but I think guys like this are going to be the answer. They are just offering an outstanding service for a teriffic price. It’s only been a couple of days but I really couldn’t be much happier with them at this point. Their support has been excellent so far as well.

New Host

October 4th, 2007

Got my blog transferred over to a new host now. Dreamhost.com is hosting everything for me now. You get an obscene amount of space, features, and transfer for not a whole lot. My WordPress install this time was considerably easier. Like five minutes start to finish easy. Took me longer to figure out how to export from my old blog.

Clearing the Clutter

September 30th, 2007

I find that a lot of my time is spent sifting through clutter.  My home seems to be filled with it.  When we moved in here five years ago we had two homes because I was still working elsewhere but we wanted to be here.  I lost the job I had kind of suddenly and instead of carefully going through stuff and getting rid of the junk we just boxed everything up and moved it up here.  Bad idea.

Writing

September 30th, 2007

I’ve always fancied myself a bit of a writer.  I enjoy it when I have something to write about and feel I’m reasonably OK at it.  However, every time I try to start writing I get two “pieces” hammered out then I run out of ideas.  Never seems to fail.  I don’t know if it’s because I don’t have the creative “muscle” in me or what.  I’ve tried to force myself to do it sometimes to develop this muscle but can’t seem to keep with it for over a week or so, no surprise as I have nothing to write about.  Still like the process of it, typing the words on the page and getting stuff out of my head.

IPhone Hype

September 28th, 2007

Am I the only person that is completely tired of all the hype surrounding the iPhone and the iPods and the iEverything?  Everywhere you turn these days it’s iphone (I’m tired of the odd capitalization; capitalize properly or it’s getting all lower case from me) this and iphone that.  Enough already.
